Summer Farm to School Intern

Four Seasons of Early Learning in Greensboro Bend, VT seeks a summer farm to school intern for our preschool. The Ideal candidate will enjoy fostering a love of learning in our youngest community members and is excited about guiding children through exploration of the world around them.

Duties include:

  • Meal preparation for 30-35 students;
  • Garden planning and maintenance;
  • Preparation and implementation of hands-on, farm-to-school educational opportunities for preschoolers, including the development of a new preschool farm-to-school curriculum; and,
  • Daily care and assistance with educational activities for children ages 2 - 5 years.

The Ideal candidate will enjoy cooking and be passionate about teaching and preparing healthful food for our learning community. We strive to produce the highest quality food, made from scratch while utilizing local resources.  A strong candidate:

  • Enjoys children and recognizes the important role proper nutrition plays in their development;
  • Has experience with planning and preparing food for large groups;
  • Is competent with computers and can produce the proper documentation for our professional partners;
  • Is organized, efficient and comfortable multi-tasking;
  • Has a proven work history that demonstrates you can work independently; and,
  • Has a positive and upbeat attitude and be willing to be an active member of our professional team.

The Program:

By offering an emerging curriculum it is our aspiration that each child will develop a positive outlook toward school, a better appreciation for the world around them and acquire a lifelong love for learning that will serve them here and their time beyond.

 

This position is part of a cohort of 12 interns working with organizations that support Northeast Kingdom community  Funded by the UVM Leahy Institute for Rural Partnerships, free housing for interns will be provided at Sterling College in Craftsbury, VT.  Interns will participate in a week-long community orientation, weekly intern cohort workshops for professional development, networking, and reflection and a final sharing event.
